[Message from Mr. Yuya Tahara (Arai)]
In this study, we focused not only on automating experimental operations, but also on “care” around experiments, such as preparation, resource management, scheduling, and error handling.
To make laboratory automation truly useful and sustainable, robots need to do more than follow predefined instructions; the entire laboratory system should recognise its own state and maintain itself.
The Humanics programme offers an opportunity to work on large questions across life science, robotics, informatics, and AI.
I hope future students will identify overlooked problems at the boundaries of disciplines and develop them into new research directions.
