Mr. Shodai Taguchi (5th year student) and Mr. Yuya Tahara-Arai (3rd year student) organized a student-initiated symposium at LADEC 2025.
Mr. Shodai Taguchi and Mr. Yuya Tahara-Arai organized a symposium titled 'Impromptu Problem Solving' at LADEC2025, a conference focused on the laboratory automation, which took place at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan). This hackathon-like symposium brought together a diverse group of participants, including wet lab researchers, as well as software and hardware developers. The session was designed to have them present specific challenges they face, and together, we collaboratively devised immediate solutions for each issue raised.
[Message from Mr. Shodai Taguchi and Mr. Yuya Tahara-Arai] (Taguchi) I was delighted that we could hold a symposium that students voluntarily organized among themselves, transcending the boundaries of individual laboratories. I believe this is a unique achievement made possible by the Humanics program, where students can belong to multiple labs. (Tahara-Arai)Many participants from software, hardware and wet-lab settings came together, and the concerns they brought helped move the discussion forward. To Humanics students, I’d encourage crossing disciplinary boundaries and, to begin with, ‘just try’ small experiments. I believe that putting your concerns into words is the starting point
