The best way to do what you want to do is to do more of what you can do.

After graduating from the University of Tsukuba, College of Knowledge and Library Science, School of Informatics, I entered he Ph.D. Program in Humanics because I was attracted by the opportunity to learn about both sleep medicine and informatics. Now we are working on the automation of sleep analysis. My goal is supporting everyone's sleep with power of informatics.

Two years of study in this program have taught me that the "ability to integrate different fields" that We acquire through this program can not only cross the boundaries of academic fields, but can also transcend many more boundaries. At the group work in class, I was able to work on a problem with people from biomedical sciences and present a poster at an academic conference. This was an experience that allowed me to go to a place I could not have reached on my own.

To be honest, each day's biomedical science class and seminar with my sub mentor is an encounter with a new world for me. The words on the slides are highly technical terms. If I learn one new word, I find thousands of I don't understand. But neither the teacher nor my friends give up on me. I can say, "I don't understand." and they will respond to my question.

"The best way to do what you want to do is to do more of what you can do." This is a phrase from my main mentor. In this program, we are not only focusing on one area of expertise, but also on multiple areas to keep increasing what we can do. And this is not only for the colleague, but surprisingly, the mentors as well. We are inspired by watching them closely.

I keep challenging in this program so that the future we create will be better than today, and so that I can acquire the ability to create that future.
