本論文は、従来熟練の技師であってもステージ判定が難しいとされてきた睡眠時無呼吸症候群症例であっても、判定時に脳波に加え血中酸素飽和度と心拍数の情報も合わせることで睡眠検査のゴールドスタンダードであるPSGと比較して非常に高い一致率を達成できることを証明した論文です。本研究が、睡眠検査の現場の負担軽減やさらなる自動化に寄与し、より多くの人の健やかな睡眠の手助けになれば幸いです。本研究にあたり尽力してくださった、全ての方に感謝申し上げます。

This study suggests that a simple electroencephalograph used at home can diagnose sleep apnea to the same extent as one measured in hospital.
As there are many undiagnosed sleep apnea patients in Japan, guiding them to treatment would be of great significance for secondary prevention, and I am honoured to be involved in this project.
